This is “Shield for Murder,” requested by Julie Merholz, who says that she watched some of the filming when she was a student at Beverly Hills High (scene of the swimming pool sequence). Thanks, Julie!

This week, it’s Julie Merholz’s turn to request a mystery movie. Here is our enigmatic gentleman for Monday.

And for Tuesday, we have a mystery woman.

Because the print is fuzzy, here’s another shot of our mystery woman.

And for Wednesday, a little hint.

And for Thursday, we have “Oh him.”
Please congratulate Mary Mallory (mystery movie and cast), Benito (Wednesday’s mystery man), Don Danard (mystery bald guy with glasses), Pat van Hartesveldt (you know who from “-30-“), Jenny M (remember him from “The Dick Van Dyke Show?”), Charles Kjelland (Wednesday’s mystery man/wrong movie), Chrisbo (you know, Lumpy’s dad on “Leave It to Beaver”), Rick (and “The Beverly Hillbillies”), Pat in Michigan (Wednesday’s mystery man/wrong movie), LC (and “Love American Style”), Roget-L.A. (plus “B.J. and the Bear”), William (one of the most famous bald guys with glasses in Hollywood) and Barbara Klein (mystery movie and cast.)
Benito says: He was in The Gnome-Mobile [1967], perhaps Disney’s weirdest movie.

Guest mystery programmer Julie Merholz put in a special request for the swimming pool sequence, so here it is.

And here is you know who himself….

Who is more recognizable here, with a mysterious blond.

And our leading man.
Please congratulate Don Danard (mystery movie and cast), Mary Mallory (Thursday’s mystery fellow), Michael Ryerson (mystery movie and cast) and Barbara Klein (Thursday’s mystery fellow).
It looks rather like an elderly Allyn Joslin but probably isn’t!
And I agree … people who write in any book should be shot.

Wednesday’s child is the ubiquitous Richard Deacon. He was in The Gnome-Mobile [1967], perhaps Disney’s weirdest movie.

And, as it is Emile Meyer, that would make the movie “Shield for Murder” and the young lady would be Marla English.

Well, Shane’s nemesis Emile Meyer is the giveaway for me making this Shield for Murder (1954) with Herbert Butterfield Monday, Marla English on Tuesday and Richard Deacon yesterday. Lurking in the wings Edmond O’Brien, John Agar and the ever-lovely Carolyn Jones.

The Gnome-Mobile is definitely one of the strangest offerings in the Disney oeuvre, as well as representing the third and final movie team-up of those British kids from “Mary Poppins”. But “Poppins” wasn’t the first time those kids teamed up; there was a lesser-known, earlier pairing. And one of those kids died young, and under mysterious circumstances!

Ah, yes, Marla English. Former guest Edmond O’Brien, John Agar and I guess Carolyn Jones as opposed to Audrey Totter who I initially thought her to be; Shield for Murder.

Well, for Friday, we’ve got a veritable two-reeler by itself. First, a pixel-challenged Claude Akins looking even more swarthy than usual, trading shots with Edmund O’Brien in a late leading-man role (top billed here) just before the weight-gain forced him into the character parts, then O’Brien again (now showing a bit of that heft) with a blonde Carolyn Jones (always an interesting actress), and finally an earnest John Agar puzzling over some plot element (perhaps a corpse?).
