Well, it looks like the Art Theater over Coburn’s shoulder to the left and way over there on Spring street, I think we may be seeing the east face of the Arcade Building. Likely a still from Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (1966)
Hi Larry: That theatre was an “art” house. I’m pretty sure it was almost across the street from the New Follies/Burbank Theatre on Main just north of 6th. If I had a proper computer instead of a smartphone I could have the info for you because there is some on the web.
Well, we’re on Main St. In the background is the Art Theatre, 551 S. Main. It’s been demolished. Click on my name to go to the web page about the theatre. So what was the film, Larry?
I believe that is James Coburn. In 1967 or 68 my sister came to visit me in NYC …the West Village …and one evening as we stepped out to the street we walked onto a location shoot of ,I think, Our Man Flynn…Mr C was acting up a storm. If this is the same film the theater reminds me of one of the old movie theatres on East 14th Street. Possibly The Jefferson. But I don’t recall that the corner building had been razed at that time, as this one seems to have been.
This is the 1969 film “Hard Contract,” starring James Coburn, Burgess Meredith, Karen Black and Lee Remick. The opening of the movie was shot in various locations on Main Street in Los Angeles.
Guessing that is the old Gaiety Theatre on Main Street in downtown L.A.

Nope. You’re looking across from Main to Spring St. and the Arcade Building.
