An elaborate Wikipedia hoax involves a purported Soviet film director — who never existed. Among his alleged works is “Where the Tractors Roam.”

The Wikipedia page is gone, but it has been mirrored here.

Interesting! Back in my Wikipedia days, I was involved in two kerfuffles regarding notability. One was a well-known sci-fi group which someone, apparently out of spite, removed the entry of, claiming it wasn’t notable enough. Because so much info about the group was in print only and not online, lots of Wikipedia editors said it was a fake group, or at least not notable. Yet during discussion of this hoax on Wikipedia, someone calls it “one of the longest-living hoaxes we have.” Gee, it’s almost like there’s a connection between favoring internet sites over inconvenient dead-tree research and Wikipedia’s hoax problem.

Where The Tractors Roam is a great title. Mr. Gadyukin appears to be a long lost Russian relative of Mr. Bunbury and other mythical creatures.
