Everybody wants to know why The Millerson Case was deemed “unsuitable.” Harrison’s Reports gave it one of the worst reviews I’ve seen:

Not only is it mediocre entertainment, but it is one of the most disgraceful small pictures produced in a long time. Because of the fact that the spectator loses himself in the illusion and believes that everything he sees is real, the harm it will do is incalculable, particularly abroad, for the characters are presented as idiots, imbeciles and  morons, and the picture has been photographed in a repulsively drab environment – a dirty locality, peopled by dirty people, physically as well as morally. Even Warner Baxter, an experienced actor, acts as an amateur. It is a credit neither to Columbia nor to the industry to make such pictures….

….Unsuitable for women and children.

The plot involves a typhoid epidemic and the skepticism of  the townsfolk, those “idiots, imbeciles and morons,” toward vaccines is timely in a manner I never anticipated.

I can’t imagine The New York Times sending even one of the “alphabet critics” to review The Millerson Case….  No, nothing but the TV listings.

Wednesday’s guy is Addison Richards, maybe during the late 40s, very early 50s.
I think from Tuesday’s guy, that it might be your favorite, a newspaper tale.

Working on the movie and what’s ‘unsuitable’ about it.

I’m going to guess The Millerson Case 1947 because I found an image that may be the reverse of the one you have of Addison Richards sitting at a desk. And the description of the film’s topic (infectious diseases and local resistance, etc) connects with our recent troubles, so kinda fits the ‘unsuitable’ theme.

However, since an ‘image of a desk’ is a very weak reason, I’ll keep searching.

Thursday’s mystery woman is Nancy Saunders! This must be THE MILLERSON CASE because I believe the woman in Wednesday’s mystery couple is Barbara Pepper. The man with Barbara is Paul Guilfoyle, the sick man is Trevor Bardette, and the third guy must be Addison Richards. The receptionist on Monday is Virginia Hunter.

I’m also going to guess that Tuesday’s guy is James Bell. A blog I found said that the blogger “…recognized him even with all the whiskers on his face”. Tuesday’s image also looks like an ‘Ezra’ (Bell’s character’s name) to me, so I’m goin’ for it.

    I’ll see on Saturday.
