I thought it was time to do a short subject and as we just had a presidential biography, I thought I would do another one, this time on Andrew Jackson. Old Hickory received excellent reviews and has high production values. It’s aired three times on TCM, most recently a year ago.
For Monday, we have a mysterious fellow. His mysterious companion, Back of the Head Guy, has been cropped out due to insufficient mysteriousness and will appear later in the week.
Update: For Friday, we have Back of the Head Guy.
Update: This is George Renevant and Hugh Sothern as Back of the Head Guy.
For Tuesday, we have a mysteriously fringed fellow.
Brain Trust roll call: Sheila (Monday’s mystery fellow).
Update: This is Frank Wilcox.
For “Hm Wednesday,” we have a mystery fellow. His recently deceased headgear does not approve of such goings-on.
Update: This is Victor Kilian.
Brain Trust roll call: Howard Mandelbaum (mystery movie and both mysterious guests).
For “Aha Thursday,” we have a mysterious gent. His recently deceased headgear does not approve of such goings-on.
Update: Great Caesar’s Ghost! This is John Hamilton.
Brain Trust roll call: Howard Mandelbaum (Wednesday’s mysterious frontiersman), Jenny M. (Wednesday’s mysterious frontiersman), Mike Hawks (mystery movie and Monday’s and Wednesday’s mystery guests), Suzanne Stone (Wednesday’s mystery guest), Sheila (mystery movie, Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s mystery guests) and Mary Mallory (mystery movie and Monday’s and Wednesday’s mystery guests).
For Friday, we have a mysterious couple.
Update: This is Natalie Moorhead and Irving Pichel.
We also have this mysterious woman.
Update: This is Nana Bryant.
And finally, our mysterious leading man.
Update: This is Hugh Sothern.
Brain Trust roll call: Mary Mallory (Thursday’s mystery guest), Benito (Wednesday’s mysterious frontiersman and Thursday’s mystery fellow), Howard Mandelbaum (Thursday’s mysterious fellow), Sylvia E. (mystery movie and all mystery guests), Mike Hawks (Thursday’s mysterious fellow), Richard Wegescheide (Thursday’s mystery guest) and Bruce (Thursday’s mystery fellow).

I’m pretty sure I’m off target because this film is a short and is further back in time than I thought on Monday. However it is a technicolor film, so here goes. Is it, “Old Hickory” 1939?
I recognize Thursday’s guy as John Hamilton of the Adventures of Superman”. I also thought that Tuesday’s guy looked like a young Abraham Lincoln and Frank Wilcox plays Captain Abraham Lincoln in this film.

Thursday is John Hamilton. Since the film is in color, I’m going to guess ‘The Missourians’.

Still working from the idea that the film is “Old Hickory”, maybe Wednesday’s guy is Victor Kilian.

Great Caesar’s Ghost!! Thursday is John Hamilton, because I watched too much “Superman” as a kid, and I’ll guess it’s “Allegheny Uprising”. If so, John Wayne should show up tomorrow.

It’s interesting that the Roman numerals in the film title photo adds up to 1940 although the movie was released in 1939. Just saying.
