Larry, it bears repeating that the whole Hodel thing was based on absolute nonsense-look at the pictures that started the whole thing-They Look Nothing Like Elizabeth Short! I will admit that the extended Hodel family drama is..uh..tiresome, psychotic, unclean, mostly crazy. Now, it’s a family affair. I don’t know what to say now. God Bless America!

He reminds me of that Cameron guy who thinks Ed Edwards is everyone’s killer from JFK to the Zodiac to Jonbenet-if it’s high-profile and unsolved, you better believe Ed Edwards had a hand in it. What I can’t tell is whether he truly believes this stuff or not, is he delusional, or is he merely publicity seeking? Cameron seems genuinely to believe his own lies and his behavior got him fired I think and the way he talks-he seems obsessed and desperate and like he doesn’t sleep. Steve I can’t figure out. He wouldn’t be crazy for thinking his Dad was the Black Dahlia killer-he was a suspect after all, and there are lots of reasons to see circumstantial evidence. But the fact that he now is also saying he was the Zodiac as well as if he’s deliberately lying to make his Dad more suspect makes me question everything.

I spent several hours talking to retired Det. John Cameron and I guarantee that he 100% believes everything he says. The most recent claim is from some bozo who has come up with a “new birth date” for Edwards that makes him older than 13 at the time Elizabeth Short was killed and thus not a child prodigy of serial killers. Lots of numerology and symbolism are involved and much is lifted from BlackDahliaSolution ORG, which may be the nuttiest website on the case — a major achievement, you must admit.
My best guess on Steve Hodel is that he went into the “Black Dahlia Avenger” book knowing it was a big con job but after all these years and so much publicity, he has managed to talk himself into believing it. The average person who knows nothing about the Black Dahlia case cannot imagine the magnitude of lies, fabrication and suppression of facts in the George Hodel franchise.
