I wanted to do a Michael Curtiz film, so as this week’s mystery movie, I chose the 1959 Mirisch Co. film “The Man in the Net,” starring Alan Ladd (Friday’s mystery guest), Carolyn Jones (Thursday’s mystery guest), Diane Brewster (Wednesday’s mystery guest), John Lupton (Friday’s mystery guest), Charles McGraw (Tuesday’s mystery guest) and Tom Helmore (Friday’s mystery guest).

The screenplay was by Reginald Rose, from a story by Patrick Quentin. Cinematography was by John Seitz , music by Hans J. Salter.

Monday’s mystery guest is identified in the credits as Steven Perry. IMDB, alas, has confused him with this Steven Perry.

Rather than this Stephen Perry.

I have given up trying to make fixes in IMDB, but it would be nice if they got this straightened out.

For Monday, we have a mystery lad.

Update: This actor is identified in the credits as Steven Perry and on IMDB as Stephen Perry.

And for Tuesday, we have a mystery gent with a cigarette. Even in black and white that kitschy 1950s (excuse me “mid-century”) decor makes my skin crawl. Please burn that couch and those curtains. Now!

Please congratulate Jenny M (mystery movie and mystery lad) and Dewey Webb (mystery lad). Most impressive.

This is Charles McGraw. The hideous “mid-century” decor has probably gone to Goodwill.

Note: IMDB has a rather amusing mistake about our mystery lad that will mislead the unwary. Be warned.

And for Wednesday, we have a mystery woman on the phone.

Update: This is Diane Brewster.

Please congratulate Mary Mallory (mystery movie and guests), Jenny M (Tuesday’s mystery guest), Benito (Tuesday’s mystery guest), Mike Hawks (mystery movie and guests), Julie Merholz (Monday’s and Tuesday’s mystery guests), Don Danard (Tuesday’s mystery guest), Barbara Klein (mystery movie and guests), dlhartzog (mystery movie and Tuesday’s mystery guest), Howard Mandelbaum (mystery movie and guests) and ValleyDave (mystery movie and guests).

And for Thursday, a mystery woman. Well, sort of. I mean, she is wearing a hat and sunglasses.

Update: This is Carolyn “Morticia” Jones.

Please congratulate Mary Mallory (Wednesday’s mystery woman), dlhartzog (Wednesday’s mystery woman), Julie Merholz (mystery movie, Wednesday’s mystery woman), Howard Mandelbaum (Wednesday’s mystery woman) Jenny M (Wednesday’s mystery woman), Barbara Klein (Wednesday’s mystery woman), Mike Hawks (Wednesday’s mystery woman) and McDee (Tuesday’s mystery gent).

And for Friday we have three mystery gents.

Update: This is Tom Helmore, left, John Alexander, center, and John Lupton.

Oh wait, maybe you were expecting…

Our mystery fellow has a tape recorder.

Update: This is Alan Ladd, a long way from “The Blue Dahlia,” “This Gun for Hire” and “Shane.”

Please Congratulate Julie Merholz (Thursday’s mystery woman), Mary Mallory (Thursday’s mystery woman), Jenny M (Thursday’s mystery woman), Beachgal (mystery movie, Wednesday’s mystery woman, Thursday’s mystery woman), Barbara Klein (Thursday’s mystery woman), Dewey Webb (mystery movie), Mike Hawks (Thursday’s mystery woman), Diane Ely (Thursday’s mystery woman), Candy C (Wednesday’s and Thursday’s mystery woman), Patrick (Tuesday’s mystery gent) and Bob Hansen (Thursday’s mystery woman).
