Just so everyone knows, this isn’t “The Stratton Story.” Really.

If anyone wants a hint, email me.

And for Thursday, we have some not so mysterious folks. Our fellow in the middle is in his usual role as a less-than-bright detective, but in this film he isn’t writing any poetry

Please congratulate Herb Nichols (mystery movie), Sarah (mystery movie and some of the mystery cast), Mike Hawks (mystery movie and some of the cast) and Roget-L.A. (mystery movie and almost all of the mystery cast).

  1. Kent says:

    Possibly Faith Domergue

  2. edu250 says:

Not sure who she is, but I’m pretty sure the shoulder pads belong to Bronko Nagurski.

  3. Eve says:

She’s a dead ringer for my college roommate Cathy, but I am guessing that’s not right.

  4. Earl Boebert says:

Another WAG: Tuesday’s gent in the boater is Karl Malden in “Fear Strikes Out.”

  5. Mary Mallory says:

  6. Don Danard says:

Today’s Mystery Men look like a nerdy Cary Grant and Cliff Clark, one of the most dependable supporting players around.

  7. ValleyDave says:

Tuesday’s man in the straw hat looks a little like Jerome Cowan.

  8. Well that’s Cliff Clark on the right in the uniform which makes this ‘Ladies Day (1943). Don’t know the other guy although he looks a bit like Jack Carson who wasn’t in Ladies Day.

  9. Patricia Ann says:

    Allyn Joslyn with straw hat

  10. Leila Hyams says:

For Tueday’s update I believe it’s James (Jimmy) Stewart and Frank Morgan. The film is The Stratton Story (1949). Monday’s mystery lady I am not sure about.

  11. william says:

I will guess Monday’s lady is Mary Lawrence… spite of the above reference to “Monty Stratton story”.

  12. Megan and Lee Ann says:

I believe Tuesday’s mystery gents are Jerome Cowan and Cliff Clark.

  13. william says:

Im not giving up on “The Stratton Story” (yet). So as a sheer guess, I think today’s mystery men are Cliff Clark on the left, & Bruce Cowling.

  14. william says:

Monday’s mystery lady… guess is Mary Lawrence

  15. Sarah says:

The movie is the Stratton Story (1949). Monday’s actress may be Mary Lawrence. Tuesday has Cliff Clark as the manager of the Chicago White Sox on the left.

    • Sarah says:

Thanks for the clue. The film was Ladies’ Day (1943). Tuesday’s other person was Jerome Cowan. Monday’s person must be Joan Barclay. It’s weird that the same person (Cliff Clark) would play the same character in the same uniform in two different movies.

  16. Leila Hyams says:

Well Tuesday’s doesn’t look like Jimmy, but I decided to go for it hehe.

  17. DeweyWebb says:

Guy in straw hat looks sort of like Tommy Noonan

  18. Gary Martin says:

    The Pride of St Louis.

  19. Don Danard says:

Say, would the guy arguing, it looks like, with Cliff Clark, Jerome Cowan?
    Sure looks like him.

  20. Mary Mallory says:

LADIES’ DAY. Carmen Morales Monday and Cliff Clark on the right today.

  21. Mary Mallory says:

    Jack Briggs on the left.

  22. Don Danard says:

The guy on the table sure looks like Fess Parker. The other guy…no idea.

  23. Mike Hawks says:

Our men for tuesday are Jerome Cowan and Cliff Clark in LADIES DAY 1943 RKO. Wednesday remains a mystery as to the men shown. Perhaps Carmen Morales is our monday lady.

  24. Rogét-L.A. says:

    Monday: Carmen Morales?
Tuesday: Jerome Cowan and Cliff Clark
Wednesday: Nedrick Young and Allen Wood?
    Mystery Movie: Ladies’ Day (1943)

  25. Mary Mallory says:

Tom Kennedy, Iris Adrian, and Patsy Kelly today.

  26. DeweyWebb says:

iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy, Patsy Kelly, et al in LADIES’ DAY

  27. Well, for Thursday we have perky little Iris Adrian on the left with Patsy Kelly on the right. The girls seem to be frustrating Tom Kennedy here, but then again Tom always seemed a bit frustrated.

  28. Gary Martin says:

Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy, and Patsy Kelly make this Ladies’ Day. However: I am intrigued by the Monday mystery woman. Carmen Morales? (We had her once before.) She’s very charismatic.

  29. juliemerholz says:

Ladies’ Day 1943, Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy, Patsy Kelly, Lupe Velez, Eddie Albert, Max Baer,
    Jerome Cowan,.

  30. Don Danard says:

Today, Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy and Patsy Kelly.

  31. Rogét-L.A. says:

Thursday: Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy, and Patsy Kelly

  32. william says:

“Ladies’ Day”…(1943), today is Patsy Kelly , Tom Kennedy ?

  33. LC says:

    Ladies’ Day 1943

  34. Rick says:

Patsy Kelly and Tom Kennedy today – movie is Ladies Day

  35. Patrick says:

Took me a while to realize that it was Cliff Clark and not Dick Lane playing the baseball manager but when I did I finally came up with “Ladies’ Day” from 1943. Cast included Joan Barclay, Jerome Cowan, Fred Carpenter, Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy and Patsy Kelly.

  36. Megan and Lee Ann says:

Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy, and Patsy Kelly for Thursday. Monday’s lady is Carmen Morales, and the movie is “Ladies’ Day”. What a day, what a day!

  37. Leila Hyams says:

    Have no idea tbh.

  38. Mike Hawks says:

Iris Adrian, Tom Kennedy and Patsy Kelly.

  39. Lupe Velez and a very young Eddie Albert. As this was released in april 1943, Albert is on his way to the Pacific Theater as a member of the USNR (or as some sources have it the USCGR) as a coxswain on a landing craft at the invasion of Tarawa. He’ll be credited with saving upwards of seventy Marines when he repeatedly took his boat back into the shallow water to bring them out from under hellacious gunfire. On screen usually a good natured sidekick, in real life a stud.

  40. Rogét-L.A. says:

And, finally, the two leads: Lupe Velez and Eddie Albert

  41. Mike Hawks says:

Our stars appear. Lupe Velez and Eddie Albert.

  42. Mary Mallory says:

    Lupe and Eddie today.
