The Case of the Black Cat

Yes, folks, there is no black cat in “The Case of the Black Cat.” Not to be confused with the other “The Black Cat” that was recently featured as a mystery movie.  (At least that movie had an actual black cat.) Could “That Darn Cat” be next?

Why isn’t cat black? Probably because that was last-minute title change to something more sinister/marquee friendly (short). Was originally announced (in 1936 blurb LA Times) to be shot under more underwhelming title of original novel name The Case Of The Caretaker’s Cat. (Plus, hard to photograph faces of black cats and dogs.)
