OK, it’s an MGM production. But what film uses this green background at the opening?

This is the opening of Saul Bass’ credits for “North by Northwest” (cue music by Bernard Herrmann!)

"North by Northwest"

As B.J. Merholz noted, the answer is on Google.  Please congratulate Dewey Webb, LC and Craig Deco for identifying it.

What surprised me about it – and the reason I posted the image – is that the treatment of the logo is so darn ugly. The green works fine with the titles, but it’s really garish with the logo, which seems to have been some odd conversion from color to black and white.

It certainly looks like it might have happened for “Brigadoon”.

in re: dewey webb …”but why?” the green field matches the green field of the opening credits…as per imbd. Makes no sense to me either and I don’t recall having seen it at the time I saw the film..

North By Northwest- a Hitchcock production shot in VistaVision and moved from Paramount
to MGM- maybe that’s the reason???
