I’m just a poor country boy in the Big City and try as I might, I cannot see where you identify your mystery person. You seem to think everyone on the planet — has Osama Bin Laden e-mailed you with a guess? — knows her name but why not give a break to the unfortunates out there? Not everybody saw the old movie, after all. You identified mostly the Usual Suspects as guessing right but I think perhaps you have a lot more readers. I hope so.

When looking at these pictures, I am surprised that Evelyn Nesbit was the physical inspiration for Anne of Green Gables.

I remember hearing about her exhibit, and that her dream at the time was to create a life sized sculpture of Marilyn Monroe, because she had such a lovely figure. What a marvelous historic mashup that would have been. I wonder what happened to her artwork? That one on display is really very good. And what a sad funeral…but for the longest time, she wanted people to forget who she was. I guess she got that in the end.
