Los Angeles Times file photo
Update: As everybody finally realized, this is Marian Carr. In the above photo, she’s showing a derringer being displayed at an antique show, Oct. 19, 1946: It’s a mystery guest with a gun! How cool is that? And how about that wallpaper? |

| Los Angeles Time file photo Update: Feb. 19, 1947: Marian Carr in a promotional photo, possibly related to "San Quentin."
Here’s another photo of our mystery guest – and isn’t this a great vintage outfit? I have no further information on this photo except that it’s stamped Oct. 24, 1956.
Here’s Wednesday’s photo of our mystery guest. Please congratulate Mary Mallory for identifying her! July 22, 1954: This photo of Marian Carr was published in The Times to promote her appearance in an episode of "Four Star Theater" starring Dick Powell.
Another great photo of our mystery guest!
April 17, 1955: Marian Carr and William Campbell in "Cell 2455 Death Row."
Update: Of course, the pistol in this photo isn’t identified. At first I assumed it was a Colt government model because of the distinctive Browning design, although the Daily Mirror doesn’t have a .45 for comparison, so all I can go by is photos on the Internet. I could be wrong, but I think the barrel looks more like a 9 millimeter and the ejector port is a little off for a 1911A1.
Commenter Spiffy may well be right that it’s a Browning High Power, judging by the front sight, although the rear sight puzzles me a bit because I can’t find any photos of a Browning with what I assume is an adjustable sight. If it is a BHP, I’m a little surprised the studio didn’t use some cheap knockoff pistol as a prop. I can’t resist running one more photo of our mystery guest with a gun. Here she is with a mystery companion and a mystery firearm. Tune in tomorrow for the answer with the mini-weekend mystery photo. |
Okay, I admit it. I didn’t notice the gun until I read what you said about it. She has such a nice smile!

How about Sally Forrest? I didn’t see the earlier Adele Jergens guesses. Sorry. But she sure looks like Adele!

At first I thought it might be Vera Ellen, but with that gun, my guess is now Virginia Mayo (because of the movie White Heat).

Ya gotta watch this dame. Notice you can’t see her right hand? Maybe she’s got a Roscoe (you know, a heater) in it, like in the first photograph.

I’m stumped. She looks like Ginger Rogers and Elizabeth Montgomery had a baby, though!

“Killer” Mack Gray, was the longtime pal and confidant of George Raft and later, Dean Martin. I’m not aware that he had that many roles in films.
