This is my live Ask Me Anything on the Black Dahlia case for November 2026.
In this session, I read an open letter to Michael Connelly regarding Alex Baber, answered a question from Baber (the jailhouse snitch of “true” crime) and discussed the Behind the Scenes making of James Ellroy’s Feast of Death.
The next Black Dahlia Book Club is November 17. The next Ask Me Anything on the Black Dahlia case is December 1.
I also discussed:
–An auction for charity of a signed first edition of Michael Connelly’s The Drop and a first edition (unsigned) of The Burning Room. Leave a comment for details.
–Charitable donations in memory of Elizabeth Short.
–The many lies of Will Fowler.
–Why I don’t reveal the name of Elizabeth Short’s perfume.
–How Robert M. “Red” Manley met Elizabeth Short.
–Was Elizabeth Short’s body examined for drugs?
–The sketchy men linked to the Black Dahlia case: Salvador Torres Vara and his supposed connection with Mimi Boomhower; Michael Anthony Otero and “Maurice the Voice Teacher” among others.
–Why I think the murder of Elizabeth Short was one of a kind and not a serial killing.
–Ralph Asdel’s suspect.
–Why people minimized their connection to Elizabeth Short.
–Why did Elizabeth Short’s killer want publicity?
–Could Elizabeth Short have been held captive during her missing six days?
–Why doesn’t the LAPD put the Black Dahlia files in a historical archive?
