  4. While I don’t know who the lad in the photo is, it made me think back to all the elevator operators I knew when such jobs were common. They were all actors in their own way. Most knew the personal business of the building they worked in, and were the best source of news and gossip. Something that has been replaced with social media communications, and not nearly as reliable.

    Monday’s elevator operator is Willie Best, an African-American actor I wish was more appreciated. His roles are tough to watch for modern viewers (I just watched him in Nancy Drew, Trouble Shooter), He was a pioneer – regardless of the roles he played.

    Willie played an elevator operator in at least 5 films, but I’ve got my guess whittled down to 2 films. I don’t recognize Tuesday’s guy..
