When we were kids in Beverly Hills, we used to sell papers on the corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Spalding Drive. On that corner was a popular restaurant called “Armstrong Shroeder’s” ( later became “Nibbler’s”) Charlie Chaplin used to frequent the restaurant. We used to see Charlie a lot and we marveled at the fact that Charlie’s hair, in real life, was snow white! Another frequent patron of the restaurant was “Ernie Kovacs” less well known internationally but a comedic genius of his time. He lost his life in a car accident in 1962 nearby at the corner of Santa Monica Bl. and Beverly Glen Blvd.
