An original drawing by Edmund Waller “Ted” Gale has been listed on EBay. Waller was a longtime cartoonist who was an institution at The Times, but he quit in 1934 in a disagreement over its editorial policies and went to the competing Examiner. He died in 1975.This item dates from 1936. Bidding is up to $5.50.

Ted Gale was my uncle Rex Gale’s brother. We never met him. We new he was a cartoonist for the paper. As far as I know, he never attended any family gatherings, of which there were many. Rex Gale died in 1952 or 1953 of a massive heart attack at the age of about 53 or 54 in Brentwood, W.Los Angeles CA Ted Gale was only mentioned in passing around the family.
