Random Shot: Downtown L.A.

Someone has hung this little figure from an overhead wire at Hill and College streets on the way into downtown. Until I got a good look, I thought it was Boris Badenov – and maybe it is. Or perhaps it’s some hipster thing. At least it’s not an old pair of gym shoes.

I also saw this little guy hanging over Olympic Blvd. and Sepulveda.

Yep, this little guy is also at Bundy and Pico. Several years ago there was a similar sighting of ducks swinging by phone lines at some of the same intersections. I remember reading a blog about the phantom artist who was tossing these up on wires, with the help of cheap locks as a counter weight. The blogger said these went up in the middle of the night all around town. Harmless hijinks and street art combo. I love it! I just wish someone would blog about who this new little guy is… I thought it was Boris Badenov, too. But now that I see a close-up, he could be the Black Spy of Spy vs. Spy. Won’t someone in the know tell us who we have the pleasure of seeing dangling from the wires? Lynn in West L.A.
