”Unwilling to turn himself into a museum piece, he kept the emphasis for the rest of the show on the new Christian numbers, just slipping in an occasional oldie or a surprise like a duet with Clydie King at the piano on “Abraham, Martin and John.’ ”

The concert ended after two hours, angering many people in the audience. “Rip-off,” shouted one disgruntled fan. “If Bruce Springsteen can give us four hours, he can at least give us two,” grumbled another.
