Aug. 24, 1960: The Mirror reports a shouting match between Mayor Norris Poulson and Police Chief William H. Parker over a proposed police cadet program. It sounds like a great item, but alas, so many stories and only one Larry Harnisch, who is focused on the 1910 bombing of The Times these days. Paul Coates follows up on a story about Emery Newbern, “the Perry Mason of the drunk tank.” |

Yes, there is but one Larry H. — but modern science can fix that. They clone sheep, corn and Gosh-knows-what-else. So why not a Larry Clone, or two so Larry 1, 2 and 3 can work a triple shift every day? He seems to do so, as it is. Now, my limited understanding of cloning is the clones turn out female and are we ready for a Larry in a dress? I vote against it, come to think of it. Call me old fashioned. I am still resisting cars without running boards.
