May 5, 1960: Here’s another take on Cynthia Lindsay and “Procals.” Her term describes the people of the Southland, who are “pro California.” I’ll be taking a look at Lindsay’s 1960 book “The Natives Are Restless” in an upcoming post.

Thanks for this one – had nearly forgotten about Cynthia Lindsay & the “procals”. Remember reading “Natives Are Restless” & another of her books, “Mother Climbed Trees” sometime in the early ’60s. If memory serves, Miss Lindsay spent years in the industry as background, then as a stuntwoman & finally writing for film & a number of TV series in the ’50s & ’60s, and lived on well into her nineties. I think she died as recently as 3 or 4 years ago.
You DO find the best bits!
