The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals raids a carefully planned dogfight in an orange grove outside Covina. Officers capture 23 spectators who came to the fight from across the country while more than 100 escape. Notice that officers used the train and teams of horses to get to the fight rather than autos, and that the dogs were transported in a wagon … A motorist driving a Pope Toledo is injured when he hits a palm tree at Pico and Alvarado at 40 mph after the clutch stopped working.
