Sadly, Campanella’s surgeon was way off the mark in predicting his paralysis would disappear. To top it off, they predicted that he might play again? As we now know, he never regained the ability to walk, let alone resume his playing career. But the happy ending is that he lived a productive and fulfilling life until his passing in 1994.
