Here’s what happens when a streetcar jumps the tracks on Los Angeles’ sainted transportation system: There’s a huge traffic jam on the Eastside because no other cars can pass. Throw in human error and the congestion only gets worse … We run a weather story … An apartment house is destroyed by a fire that started when an electric meter exploded … And a campaign is revived to form a new county from western San Bernardino County and eastern Los Angeles County with its seat in Pomona.
