Wikipedia Revert War: Wallace Beery vs. Ted Healy, Round 2

The “Wallace Beery beat Ted Healy to death” yarn returns to Wallace Beery’s entry.

Geni’s attempt to add sanity to Wikipedia continues to erode against the forces of its “citizen scholars.” Yesterday, Ejonestexas  restored all the nonsense from “The Fixers.” There’s no explanation. Just a bit of work vaporized. Which is why I quit contributing to it years ago.

That makes two entries – Wallace Beery and Ted Healy – that have been reverted.

The entries on Albert Broccoli, “The Good Old Soak,” Eddie Mannix, Howard Strickling, Thelma Todd and the Trocadero remain untouched.

For now.

See, this is why I have never bothered to go in and correct the Wiki mistakes on all the people I have written books about.

Having gone through this once myself (once was enough) I think the term “citizen scholars” should be replaced with “moderator cabal” or some such. It’s not a broad mass of contributors that’s doing this, it’s a self-appointed elite. The process is broken, and the more people that know it the better.
