Harry Medved, a Daily Mirror reader, sends along this picture. And stay tuned for more information!

[Update: As many people realized, this is the filming of the 1958 movie “Voice in the Mirror” on Main Street in downtown Los Angeles. This Saturday (Feb. 5), Metropolis Books (440 S. Main) will host a  Downtown Movie History Night in conjunction with an appearance by Karie Bible, Marc Wanamaker and Harry Medved, who will sign copies of their new book, “Location Filming in Los Angeles.”

The event will began at 6 p.m. with a showing of clips from films shot downtown, ranging from "D.O.A." to "L.A. Confidential." From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the authors will lead a free walking tour of downtown movie locations, concentrated on Main Street and Spring Street between 4th and 5th streets.

Further information is here>>>

[Update: A previous version of this post credited the photo to Harry Medved. It is courtesy of Marc Wanamaker/Bison Archives.]

It’s in Harry’s book “Film Locations in Los Angeles.” It’s VOICE IN THE MIRROR with Richard Egan and director Harry Keller standing up on Main St. Between 5th and 6th downtown Los Angeles.

Is that location shooting for VOICE IN THE MIRROR (1958)?

  7. Knowing your penchant for old Hollywood mysteries, my rough guess is the 1951 film “Hollywood Story”. Richard Egan, who is visible in the shot, played a police detective in a film loosely based on the William Desmond Taylor murder.

Well, it’s Richard Egan sitting in the foreground in the middle, and I can’t make out if it’s Troy Donohue or not on the far left.

The mystery guest in the white shirt and thin dark tie is Richard Egan. Could this be from “Hollywood Story” (1951 Universal Pictures International)?

Paul Picerni? It’s still a real poor shot of him, but that smile looks familiar!
Also Patti Wagon was in a motion picture, “Peek a Boo” (1953).

It’s not HOLLYWOOD STORY, which takes place all around Hollywood and at Jack’s on the Beach in Santa Monica. This film showed at the Film Noir Festival in LA last year.

The curly headed fellow in white shirt and tie, seated in the foreground, is Richard Egan. My guess is it may be the TV series Police Story.

The guy with glasses sitting next to Egan looks a lot like sometimes actor and KNXT sports anchor, Gil Stratton, Jr., though he is not listed in the film’s credits.
