[Update: As many people realized, this is from “There’s That Woman Again.” I expected most people to recognize Melvyn Douglas, but some of the responses were quite detailed. Is it THERE’S THAT WOMAN AGAIN? Seems to be Jonathan Hale, Melvyn Douglas and Virginia Bruce at the table, though Boobsie McBraless doesn’t look much like Margaret Lindsay. That IS director Alexander Hall.

Then, as now, many evening dresses were form fitting, so women often went braless. Some had to, because the dresses were backless, or cut very high on the side.

The movie is “There’s That Woman Again.” The actors are Pierre Watkin, Margaret Lindsay, Melvyn Doulgals and Virginia Bruce. I’ll guess two of the more prominent behind the camera faces are Producer B.B. Kahane and Director Alexander Hall.

I’ve been away with a sick grandchild for several weeks, so I’m not sure what the new mystery game is–are we supposed to guess the stars or the movie? Anyway, here’s my guess–There’s that Woman Again, 1939, with (l-r)Pierre Watkin, director Alexander Hall (?), Margaret Lindsay, Melvin Douglas, and Virginia Bruce. The gowns (as they always bill them) were by Kalloch.

As evidenced above, Melvyn Douglas came off as a real guy. Even in the highly stylized thirties. It was a rare quality. Perhaps the only other star of the era who always seemed natural was Spencer Tracy.
