Oct. 14, 1940, Reds Threaten Balkan War
  Oct. 14, 1940, Catholics

A Mass celebrated by then-Rt. Rev. Msgr. Fulton J. Sheen at the Coliseum marks the centennial of the Catholic Church in Los Angeles.

Oct. 14, 1940: Hollywood After Dark: Franchot Tone unsuccessfully attempting to rescue Peggy Moran's hat as they whip around an Ocean Park roller coaster, Jimmie Fidler says. I never thought I'd see Arthur Murray and Nijinsky in the same sentence, but Fidler does it!
