Aug. 6, 1980: The Times profiles Kristine De Bell/DeBell, who starred in the soft-core 1976 film “Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy” and by 1980 had appeared in “Meatballs” and “Main Event.” "Someday I'll get my chance," she says. "I have a science fiction face — I look like I should live in the year 2000. And I think I do comedy well." Her last imdb credit is “American Confidential” in 1990. |

Dale Pollock needed to get out more. A “soft-core X-rated film?” No such animal. Ms. DeBell starred in a very well made flick called “Alice In Wonderland” that was marketed as a “self-rated” flick and played in most every theater in the world that would take an “R.” They then spliced some hard core XXX footage into it and peddled it as a full-blown “XXX.” I happen to think Miss DeBell is a fine actress and a great gal. I danced with her one evening at the Playboy Mansion (don’t tell Molly). Hint — I was bombed. I don’t dance, sober. She did a guest appearance on “Night Court” that was great and co-starred in the only karate movie I ever liked, “The Big Brawl.”

Ahh yes, Kristine De Bell. I’ve sometimes wondered over the years whatever happened to her. I first saw her in a Playboy pictorial in the 70s, showcasing her nude scenes in Alice in Wonderland. Like millions of other teenage boys at the time, I was absolutely knocked out by her beauty. I eventually saw that film and can verify that it was definitely not “soft” core. She did several explicit hardcore sex scenes. Although there was an edited softcore VHS version that also came out. Well, she was a real beauty and I thought, a pretty decent actress. I hope her life has been good.
