The last (and only) time I went grunion hunting it was near Oceanside. They came ashore in waves — the first batch would hit the beach farther north than you could run and catch ’em and the next would show up about the same distance to the south. Maybe this is why there’s the myth that they don’t exist. They’re hard to catch. We got some and ate ’em. I’ve been snipe hunting, too, but I don’t want to brag…and of course, when I was in Arizona I was the Jackalope hunting champ. But you knew that.
