Nuestro Pueblo – 5121 Franklin

Oct. 3, 1938, Nuestro Pueblo

Oct. 3, 1938: Joe Seewerker and Charles Owens visit 5121 Franklin Ave. or what we know today as the home of Dr. George Hodel. The original run of Nuestro Pueblo ended in 1939. I’m going back and picking up the ones I missed in 2008-09.

Hi Larry ~~ Got my 1940 hard copy of Nuestro Pueblo an hour ago. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of ordering it. I really like it, and will use it going around LA to check out which of these places still exist, and relish the ones that are, and that i can recognize from the pictures.
Bad news, it doesn’t list each entry under the same title as, in today’s case, Hollywood Show Place, so i can’t immediately check to see whether all the items run in the Times are also in the book. My cursory view is that it doesn’t, and i am shocked that there are over 90 Nuestro Pueblo sites listed in the book, beside the ones that may have not made the book for whatever reason!
At least that’s after my cursory look. Do you have a link to a file you may have compiled where i can cross-check all the NPs you have made available in the Daily Mirror vs what’s in the book?
Thanks again, and once again, you need not put this email up online. ~~ Craig Hill
