    Larry, Pinky Woods was one of those players who only made the big leagues during World War II when players were in short supply. But if you had to stay in the minors, Hollwywood wasn’t a bad gig at all…. And according to none other than Wikipedia, he got his nickname after losing one of his toes because he got spiked!
