Hughes' legendary work habits — he's been known to churn out a screenplay in a matter of days — are matched only by his growing reputation as an aging Dennis the Menace, who indulged in temper tantrums and arguments on the set of "Weird Science," a film he recently completed.

i must be a big kid, because john is one of my favorite filmmakers. his films were classic bigtime fun, and he will be missed. you can re-visit his great films, almost like a time machine into 1980s teen angst, complete with a feel-good ending. i am sure he has them laughing in the aisles with new stories up in heaven. one of the very best!!! a fond goodbye…
