Mmmmm, I could so go for some Miltown ice cream, with Nembutal sprinkles.

The Martin Kane who gets back from Europe was an early radio Private Eye, played by William Gargan. A television version had a brief run in the fifties.
Other early dicks were: Ralph Bellamy as the ‘Man Against Crime’; ‘Rocky King (Roscoe Karns) Detective’; and Reed Hadley head of ‘Racket Squad’.
Even Lee Marvin roamed the backlot streets of Chicago in ‘M Squad’.
