Movie Star Mystery Photo

People didn’t care much for the last mystery photo. Here’s one you may like better.

Update: Herb Nichols and Pete Nowell guessed that our mystery fellow is Chargers football coach Sid Gillman making a guest appearance on "The Rifleman." Notice he’s even wearing his little bow tie. According to The Times, the episode aired Feb. 16, 1960, although imdb doesn’t list Gillman in the cast.

OK, we’ve got Chuck Connors on the right, and I want to say John Doucette on the left but don’t think it’s he. That’s a “best guess”.

I’m glad those look like toy guns. Chuck is about to do some serious self harm if he shoots a real gun in that position and his buddy looks ridiculous–might as well turn the gun around.

I didn’t realize Chuck was a lefty (check out how he holds the rifle). I knew he played pro baseball (and basketball AND football!) – so I looked him up: Bats left, Throws left. Played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Cubs from ’49 – ’51. Also signed by the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bears. Here’s a stat: Connors is one of only 12 athletes in the history of American professionall sports to have played for both MLB and the NBA.

As others have probably informed you, Gillman apeared in the episode titled “Heller” (February 23, 1960 (Season 2, Episode 22)), which was the very next episode after the one you referenced. He is listed in the IMDb for the “Heller” episode.

I was going to cite the “Heller” episode in which Gilman* is* credited, but Zapgun beat me to it by about four hours.
For what it’s worth, here is a link to the IMDB page of the “Heller” episode:

I can’t figure out how to make the link clickable, so anyone who wants to see it will have to copy-and-paste.
