The name “Bullock’s Wilshire” sounds so familar, but I can’t remember where it was, exactly. I remember “Ohrbach’s on the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax. I remember ‘The May Co”, on another of the corners of Wilshire and Fairfax. I remember “Bullock’s Westwood”, near UCLA. There was a Bullock’s in Downtown LA. Please, someone, tell me the exact location of “Bullock’s Wilshire”.

It’s located on the south side of Wilshire Blvd. just east of MacArthur Park, near Virgil Ave. It’s one of the few remaining magnificent Art Deco buildings on par with the Wiltern Theater and May Company on Fairfax. If possible, check out the mural on the ceiling of the back entrance. The motifs throughout the store were inspired by ancient Egyptian design and fused with the linear art deco minimal style. It is truly one of L.A.s great architectural jewels. I believe that the lower floors are currently being used for law offices.
