O.J. Simpson started his Heisman Trophy-winning season with four touchdowns in USC’s 29-20 victory over Minnesota.

Simpson scored twice in the fourth quarter. "I thought that now is the time to decide whether we’re really good, to find out just what kind of football team we have," Simpson told The Times’ Dwight Chapin.

Defensive tackle Tony Terry said the victory was just a matter of time. "You know why?  Because we have O.J. All you have to do is give him the ball."

    John Carradine:
Toward the end of his life, the master Shakespearian – and contemporary of John Barrymore – reduced himself to appearances in campy horror films. Often he would be the ‘star’, with only a day or two of work. Thses horrors were often shot in the same converted garage on Santa Monica Blvd. that served Ed Wood oh, so well. The proprietors of that stage explained to me one day how Carradine worked in the early seventies.
They said that he set his fee at $1,000 a day. He’d accept any role, in any film, that met his fee. Once he worked 100 days in any given year, he stopped and returned to his ranch.
He said he was a working whore.
He left us with everything from memorable, brilliant, to downright silly. But, John Carradine always entertained.
