Above, two movies you will not find on Netflix … The Harry Raymond bombing takes a crucial turn with the beginning of a campaign to recall Mayor Frank Shaw … A writ of habeas corpus is denied for Police Capt. Earle Kynette, which means he and two co-defendants must stay in jail  … Male students at UCLA say they like kissing … A staging of "Romeo and Juliet" set in Japan … And a boy is expected to die after hanging himself. On the jump, a wife wins a separate maintenance decree after her husband shoots her in the head, leaving her partially paralyzed.

Fascinating ad for “Sally, Irene and Mary.” Alice Faye and Tony Martin were married at the time this film was made — difficult to imagine since we always perceive them with different partners (Faye with Phil Harris, Martin with Cyd Charisse). Speaking of the latter couple, they’re still going strong — Cyd turned 87 yesterday, and Tony recently had a singing engagement at a New York club at age 95 (and supposedly is still in great voice). Amazing.
–I once interviewed Cyd Charisse. She was very gracious to me, I must say. A real lady.

Re: “Sally, Irene and Mary”: the Louise Hovick listed in the cast is none other than Gypsy Rose Lee (her pic is to the right on the poster). Had no idea she’d ever appeared in a movie using her real name. The stuff you find is truly mind-boggling!
    –Thanks… I try!
