They said it:
City Councilman Edward R. Roybal: Chavez Ravine is "the worst possible
place for a major league park." Roybal said he favored Wrigley Field or
a location in East L.A., predicting that putting a baseball stadium in
Chavez Ravine would lead to terrible traffic.
The Dodgers have been in Chavez Ravine now longer than they were in Ebbets Field. In a couple of years, after the Yankees and Nationals move to their new stadiums, Dodger Stadium will be the third oldest major league baseball park after Wrigley and Fenway.
And the Dodgers are going to be staying in Dodger Stadium for the forseeable future. Frank McCourt, as part of the deal for buying the team, is keeping the team in Dodger Stadium for another two decades at least.
Twenty more years of traffic jams. Something to look forward to.
