   Throw enough money at a book project for promotion and whatever the subject is becomes gospel truth. I was discussing the case the other day with a pretty respected journalist and she asked “Wait a minute, wasn’t that case solved a while back? Some guy who was an LAPD detective discovered his dad did it, right?” Le sigh.
   Incidentally, I’m curious as to your thoughts on the “American Horror Story” episode’s take on Elizabeth Short. The person in that fictionalized account was a little closer to Walter Bayley and some of the circumstances around her a bit closer to truth than other depictions.

     Steve Hodel has been relentlessly plugging the Black Dahlia Avenger franchise since 2003, so 15 years of flashing the badge and confusing, contorted rambling about Man Ray, “thought prints,” “flashing red lights” and “the Black Dahlia murder house” has numbed pretty much everyone into believing this ridiculous story. Critical thinking seems to be in short supply, particularly in these days of one-source stories and TV shows running pieces like “author of math book says 2 + 2 = 5!”

     As far as I know, nobody has pushed back on the Dr. George “Evil Genius” Hodel serial killer narrative except for the Zodiac folks, who shot it down pretty quickly.

     My DVR was set to record AHS, but then had a complete meltdown and I can’t say I have watched any of the episodes, although I think I can still get them on demand. In general, I’m not a huge fan of shows like AHS or anything that turns the Black Dahlia into a slasher flick, so I tend to not watch them.
