This is the 1972 film “Pulp,” starring Michael Caine.

Notice that imdb is not always reliable: “Michael King is a seedy writer of sleazy pulp genre novels under a half dozen sensational pseudonyms whose ambition is to dictate 10,000 words per minute to stenographers a la Earle Stanley Gardner.”

I thought that after a couple of Lon Chaney silents, we should do something more contemporary. So, yes, our mystery fellow appears in color … and there’s sound!

Please congratulate Patrick, Benito and Floyd Thursby for identifying our mystery movie and mystery chap.

OK, Mr. Thursby, this (totally not) mystery woman is for you. (That’s Floyd Thursby, not Keith!). I have cropped out Back of the Head Guy, for which I am sure everyone is grateful.

Please congratulate Patrick (Wednesday’s mystery woman), Roget-L.A. (Wednesday’s mystery woman), Jenny M (mystery movie and cast), Michael Ryerson (Wednesday’s mystery woman) and Mike Hawks (Tuesday’s mystery chap). Mr. Ryerson, this was shot before camcorders existed. That’s a Super 8 movie camera!

  1. Patrick says:

Monday brings us the colorful and talkative Leopoldo Trieste who played the hapless landlord in Godfather 2. This still is from “Pulp” from 1972 which also starred Michael Caine and the recently departed Mickey Rooney.

Guessing it’s PULP [1972] with Mickey Rooney as a wisecracking gangster. That would make Monday’s dude Leopoldo Trieste?

  25. Oh my gosh, is Mr. Monday Leopoldo Trieste? Who did such a wonderful turn in Godfather? Lol. That’s great. That makes the movie ‘Pulp’ (1972) with Michael Caine, Mickey Rooney, Lizabeth Scott, Al Lettieri (another great Godfather alum) and the gamin-like Nadia Cassini.
