And for Thursday, a mystery taxi driver (her cap says “Yellow Cab,” although it’s a bit hard to see in this image). This is one of the few shots of her without our leading man and I’m saving him for tomorrow.

  3. It’s Jean Brooks, but the photo’s not from Leopard Man or The Seventh Victim. I know her face because I became fascinated by those Val Lewton films in the 80s, even though I’d seen them on KPIX in San Francisco twenty years earlier. I guess you have to be an adult to “get” Val Lewton. She really makes them work. She and Katherine Emery, among others.

    OK. You say it is a series…film. So the Young Barbara Hale and Sheldon Leonard would peg it as Falcon …and with Useff Ali on a cheesy set, it must be Falcon In Hollywood …with, Monday, Jean Brooks and …I hope…by Saturday a lovely shot of my fav…Veda Ann Borg.

  25. Since this is from a series, I’ll go with “The Falcon in Hollywood”. Monday: Veda Ann Borg. Tuesday: Perhaps Useff Ali. Wednesday’s couple: Barbara Hale and future TV producer Sheldon Leonard.

    The lady at the racetrack…I would guess it’s Virginia Belmont but the only thing I remember her for was the Republic serial “Dangers of the Canadian Mounted”. Figures!
