Here’s another photo from the amazing collection of Steven Bibb!
[Update: This is Henry Armetta with John Garfield in “Dust Be My Destiny.”]
Just about everybody recognized one or both of our mystery guests (although Herb Nicholas threw me a curve by using the birth name of the chap on the left – went right past me). Bob Duncan was first, followed by Dewey Webb, Michael Ryerson, RJ, Richard Heft, Benito (half credit). Jenny M, Mike Hawks, William Stansel (half credit), Sarah (half credit), Mary Mallory, Gregory Moore (half credit), Gary Martin (half credit), Don Danard, Bob Hansen, (half credit) and Rick Scott.
Please congratulate Dan Nather for identifying our main mystery chap… Our mystery lady remains an enigma.
[Update: This is Henry Armetta with Catharine Doucet in “Wake Up and Dream,” 1934.]
And for Friday, our mystery fellow has a mystery companion.
[Update: This is Henry Armetta with Bobby Breen in “Let’s Sing Again.”]
The individual on the right is Henry Armetta who played a stereotyped Italian type in many films in the 1930s. He was especially funny in the Laurel & Hardy film “Fra Diavolo”…

Well it’s clearly John Garfield on the left. Unfortunately I don’t recognise the gentleman on the right.

We have Tom Neal on the left and on the right I am reminded of Pedro Armenderiz but that’s a guess. Of Tom Neal’s 8000 movies i haven’t a clue which one this is.”Take the Money and Run”?

That’s Henry Armetta on the right…not sure of the mug in the fedora. Is it from “I Stole a Million,” 1939?

On the other hand it could be John Garfield and Thomas Gomez in Detour, 1945.

Now I get it–these stills are not even from same movie! So kid IS Bobby Breen with Armetta in (probably) Let’s Sing Again, and the gal might be Maude Eburne.

Henry is shown here with Bobby Breen. Since they made three movies together I will vote for LET’S SING AGAIN 1936.

This is adding up to verify my first assumption: the Italian fellow is Henry Armetta with John Garfield in Dust be my Destiny and in the last foto he is with Bobby Breen in Let’s Sing Again.
If I were not so lazy I would find out who the mystery lady is …Gladys George? I always recall Henry in the great bed department episode of the Marx Bros. in The Big Store.
