A closer resemblance to Harpo Marx. But as I know their films pretty well, I hesitate to say so. It’s definitely not Ray Bolger …or Jack Lemon or Alec Guiness…mmm

Don’t know the actor playing the cop, but I do believe that’s the lovely William Powell in those female duds. The movie is I believe “I Love You Again” with Myrna Loy. I haven’t seen it for awhile. Powell and Loy were the best screen husband and wife team the movies ever created.

That would be the very lovely William Powell pretending to be his own sister in 1941’s Love Crazy, which also starred Myrna Loy, Gail Patrick, Jack Carson, and Elisha Cook Jr., among others. I could be wrong, but I think the policeman is Edward Hearn, who, if IMDb is to be believed, worked dozens of bit parts in movies between 1915 and 1955. I have to confess: I kinda cheated on this one … Love Crazy was just on TCM a few weeks ago and William Powell in drag is an image that never leaves your head …
The synopsis: “A series of misunderstandings on their fourth wedding anniversary lead an architect and his wife to break up, but he pretends to be insane and even poses as his own sister in order to win her back.”

The man in drag appears to be William Powell. I won’t even try to guess the identity of the cop or the name of the film.

Peter Sellers? Probably safe to say it isn’t Edward G. Robinson or Peter Lorre. :))
