I seem to recall reading that Errol Flynn was upset by a gossip item Fidler had written. Fidler wrote that Flynn’s dog had drowned in the ocean, and the actor couldn’t be bothered enough to retrieve its body on the beach. Seems more inflammatory then industry issues.

The movie I am thinking of was made several years before this 1941 incident.
