Here’s three mystery chaps. Our guest is in the middle.

Last week’s mystery guest was Polly Walters and the weekend guest was Gregg Palmer. Congratulations to Don Danard for recognizing him!

There’s a new photo on the jump!

Nov. 24, 2010, Mystery Book Please congratulate Eve Golden, Mary Mallory (who was also right on the photographer), Cold in PHX, Randy Skretvedt, Carmen, Waldo Lydecker, Fibber McGee, Rick Scott and Patrick McDonald for identifying our mystery guest.

His mystery companions may be a little more enigmatic. Here he is with another mystery pal. And what’s this mystery book on the shelf behind them? “The White Black Sheep?” This could be an important clew as to where the photo was taken.

Here’s our mystery guest with several mystery companions … Hullo …  What’s this? That fellow on the right looks awfully familiar…. Wasn’t he a mystery guest a while back? Please congratulate Mary Mallory for identifying yesterday’s mystery companion and Mike Hawks for identifying Monday’s trio.

  March 11, 1954, Mack Sennett

This March 11, 1954, newspaper article explains the circumstances of Thursday's mystery photo, and the origins of the Keystone Kops.

Here’s our mystery guest (oh, is that his name on the cake?) with two companions. One will be easy – the other will be a little more challenging! Please congratulate Mary Mallory for identifying one of the mystery women in yesterday’s photo. They are Phyllis Haver and former mystery guest Sally Eilers. And yes, there was also former mystery guest Jack Mulhall.

Update: Our mystery lady is Peggy Connelly!

Hard to tell who the man in the middle is from that angle. The picture is likely from the early ’20s. Donald Crisp? Mack Sennett?

The man in the middle looks a lot like Mack Sennett the funnyman but the guy on the left is obviously an intellectial, not a comic. And wired for the Internet before his time. The dude on the right looks like he will be running for president of the U.S. soon.

Is the Mystery Guest Henry King? That would possibly make Tuesday’s mystery companions Sidney Olcott (left) and Robert G. Vignola (right) and Wednesday’s mystery companion a much older Sidney Olcott.

Well, it’s not Richard Barthelmess, the star of The White Black Sheep, so I’m going to guess it’s the director, Sidney Olcott.

Ah heck, you put up the answers already. I JUST remembered late last night that this was Mack Sennett — it dawned on me this was the guy my best blog friend in the world posted a screencap of, from a “This Is Your Life” episode (here is the entry if anyone is interested). Once I remembered, I didn’t feel like turning the computer back on to answer… and I paid the price!

Ernie Kovacs, aka Percy Dovetonsils, is on the right, so normally we’d see Edy Adams on the left. Hmm, she looks like Gina Lollobrigida in profile.

That might be Edie in a wig and Yvonne-DeCarlo-as-Lily-Munster eyes. She’s definitely in an old fashioned Bathing Beauty get up, right down to the scarfhat. Or hatscarf.
