  9. juliemerholz says:

  10. juliemerholz says:

    In Love Crazy

  11. She bares a strong resemblance to Stan Laurel. But clearly isn’t as funny.

  12. Louis Burklow says:

That’s William Powell in “Love Crazy;” he’s pretending to be his aunt or sister to see Myrna Loy.

  13. Rotter says:

I say William Powell dressed up for a night on the town.

  14. Rotter says:

    The movie is Love Crazy.

  15. Benito says:

William Powell in drag posing as his own sister in Love Crazy [1941]. I’d recognize that schnozz anywhere.

  16. Jo Anne says:

Easy, William Powell in Love Crazy with Myrna Loy.

  17. wendy says:

    William Powell

  18. Bronson Bias says:

    EZY 1
    William Powell in drag.

  19. Mike Hawks says:

LOVE CRAZY 1941 with William Powell.

  20. i’m never right on these things but what the heck — William Powell?

  21. Suzanne Annette Stone says:

    William Powell in Love Crazy.

  22. Megan says:

Love Crazy (1941) with William Powell and Myrna Loy.

  23. Gary Martin says:

A closer resemblance to Harpo Marx. But as I know their films pretty well, I hesitate to say so. It’s definitely not Ray Bolger …or Jack Lemon or Alec Guiness…mmm

  24. periwinkle says:

Don’t know the actor playing the cop, but I do believe that’s the lovely William Powell in those female duds. The movie is I believe “I Love You Again” with Myrna Loy. I haven’t seen it for awhile. Powell and Loy were the best screen husband and wife team the movies ever created.

  25. Cindy Walters says:

    William Powell

  26. Cynthia Abel says:

That is William Powell in Love Crazy.

  27. airbeagle says:

That would be the very lovely William Powell pretending to be his own sister in 1941’s Love Crazy, which also starred Myrna Loy, Gail Patrick, Jack Carson, and Elisha Cook Jr., among others. I could be wrong, but I think the policeman is Edward Hearn, who, if IMDb is to be believed, worked dozens of bit parts in movies between 1915 and 1955. I have to confess: I kinda cheated on this one … Love Crazy was just on TCM a few weeks ago and William Powell in drag is an image that never leaves your head …

The synopsis: “A series of misunderstandings on their fourth wedding anniversary lead an architect and his wife to break up, but he pretends to be insane and even poses as his own sister in order to win her back.”

  28. Ed says:

    That’s William Powell

  29. Wm. Stansel says:

William Powell….”Love Crazy”. I’m not sure of the movie …I’m not sure of anything!

  30. Jeff says:

Why, it’s William Powell in drag portraying his own mother in “Love Crazy” (MGM, 1941.)

  31. CandyC says:

The lady looks like William Powell but did he ever have a role without the mustache?

  32. Cindy Walters says:

    William Powell in “Love Crazy”

  33. Rogét-L.A. says:

The man in drag appears to be William Powell. I won’t even try to guess the identity of the cop or the name of the film.

  34. Chad says:

Peter Sellers? Probably safe to say it isn’t Edward G. Robinson or Peter Lorre. :))

  35. LC says:

I’m a little late here, but it’s William Powell in Love Crazy. The cop is Edward Hearn.

  36. Barbara Klein says:

    William Powell in “Love Crazy”

  37. Bartstar says:

    Gary, this is getting scary…

I took one look at the photo and said “Harpo Marx in drag”.
I then clicked on the responses link to see other people guesses and you just confirmed my initial impression.

  38. Rick Scott says:

William Powell in (I think) “I Love You Again”
